The Women Human Rights Defenders International Coalition is outraged to learn about the violence and threats against women's organizations during the presidential election process in Peru. We understand that this includes telephone threats, raids of organizational headquarters and theft of equipment, the hacking of facebook and email accounts, and personal assaults. We express our solidarity with the Centro de la Mujer Peruana Flora Tristán, Femucarinap, and other women's rights organizations and leaders who have been threatened and harassed. We call on the authorities to investigate and punish those who are responsible for these acts of threat and intimidation to women activists working for human rights and democratic freedoms. La Coalición Internacional de Defensoras de los Derechos Humanos expresa su indignación al enterarnos sobre la violencia y amenazas contra organizaciones de mujeres en el proceso de elecciones presidenciales en Perú. Entendemos que esto ha incluido amenazas telefónicas, hayanamientos de sedes de las organizaciones y robo de equipo, hackeo de cuentas de facebook y correo electrónico, y agressiones personales. Extendemos nuestra solidaridad con el Mujer Peruana Flora Tristán, Femucarinap, y las otras organizaciones y líderes en los derechos de la mujer que han recibido amenazas y agresiones. Llamamos a las autoridades a que investiguen y castiguen a los culpables de estos actos de amenaza e intimidación de mujeres activistas trabajando por los derechos humanos y las libertades democráticas.
